Cal Poly Shows Commitment to Open Communication Using New Budget Platform

Maintaining Cal Poly’s nationally ranked status has proved challenging in recent years as legislators in Sacramento have slashed higher education funding in order to reverse the state’s own budget woes. Between fiscal year 2007/08 to 2014/15, state funding for Cal Poly declined approximately 30 percent. In an era of perennial budget cuts, university administrators became increasingly cognizant of enhancing transparency to alleviate misconceptions and resultant mistrust in university finances. However, the financial reports that were provided to university stakeholders through the university’s website were still static snapshots.
