Northglenn Pioneers Financial Transparency in Colorado
The City of Northglenn, a community of nearly 36,000 located just north of Denver, is the first city in Colorado to launch an OpenGov platform. The new tool empowers residents, administrators and council with instant access to the City’s financial information. The dynamic, interactive platform makes it easier for everyone to see how taxpayer money is collected and spent. The platform may be accessed at northglennco.opengov.com.
The Northglenn OpenGov platform displays five years of government spending and revenue detail. Northglenn Finance Director Jason Loveland led the initiative to open up the City’s books and trail blaze new technology for the community.
“Support for this initiative has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Loveland. “City Council, the mayor and city leadership are all on board with making this information available.”
“Northglenn is a pioneer for financial transparency in the State of Colorado. By making its budget data easily accessible to residents and staff in an intuitive, digital format, the city is demonstrating its commitment to efficient, data-driven and transparent government,” said Northglenn Mayor Joyce Downing.
With the early May launch, Northglenn joins the expanding OpenGov network of nearly 300 leading cities, counties, state agencies, school systems, and special districts across the country that leverage OpenGov technology.
