New Technology, New Experience for Central Park’s 40 Million Visitors
Central Park Conservancy, the private, not-for-profit organization that manages Central Park, has chosen OpenGov’s work and asset management software to manage day-to-day operations performed against the Park’s diverse inventory of assets, including monuments, water features, trees, pavement segments, and water distribution and storm water networks.
The Conservancy also has plans to leverage OpenGov for managing event operations, vendor licenses, and endowments across the park. With many trees benches, fountains, and more made possible by donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations, OpenGov will play a major role in accurately tracking those important benefactors and their contributions.
Central Park comprises 843 acres and hosts approximately 42 million visitors annually, making it the most frequently visited urban park in the United States.
Central Park Conservancy was formed in 1980 by a group of concerned citizens determined to improve Central Park. Today, the Conservancy provides 75% of Central Park’s $57 million annual operating budget, and is responsible for all aspects of park management, as well as capital improvements and restorations.
