Town of Warrenton, Virginia, Partners with OpenGov for Budgeting, Online Permitting and Licensing

The Town of Warrenton’s new Budget Manager quickly realized that the municipality needed to update its budget process. That’s when the Town partnered with OpenGov, the leader in modern cloud ERP software for our nation’s cities, counties, and state agencies.

The Town, located southwest of Washington D.C., sought to streamline its budget process and increase public transparency as it searched for a new software solution. After reviewing multiple municipal government software options, Town leaders chose OpenGov Budgeting & Planning for its flexible and transparent reporting functionality.

OpenGov Budgeting & Planning will provide the Town with one centralized reporting system that integrates financial and other data. With data combined from all departments, the Town will be able to see beyond financial outcomes to understand the variables affecting total performance. The data and the context behind the data can be easily shared internally and with the public. The reporting feature not only builds public trust but it also engages citizens, who will be able to better understand how tax dollars are spent.

When Town leaders decided to partner with OpenGov on municipal government software, they initially planned to focus only on budgeting. However, once the Director of Community Development saw the functionality of OpenGov Citizen Services, the Town added the permitting and licensing suite. Now, Community Development staff will simplify processes like planning and zoning, building permit approvals, and inspections management, by providing these services to residents online via a public citizen portal.

The Town of Warrenton joins more than 1,000 public sector organizations leveraging OpenGov to revolutionize work processes with cloud-based software designed specifically for the needs of government.
