Nassau Bay, TX Is Taking One Giant Leap With OpenGov Financials

Nassau Bay FINAL

"Whatever is going on in the background of OpenGov, there seems to be a really good relationship going from sales to implementation to customer service... People within the organization are watching out for you."

Csilla Ludanyi, Finance Director

Video Transcript:

Phil Johnson, Mayor: “We are the bedroom community that was established when the manned space flight center was built back in the early 60s.”

Csilla Ludanyi, Finance Director: “In Nassau Bay, directly across the street from the Dawson Space Center, the expectations for technology and availability of information are incredibly high. That’s one of the things we’ve tried to do: make sure we have the tools we need to provide efficient and effective information to our residents to meet their expectations. I love [OpenGov] Financials. All the things that we use, we are really satisfied with.

Last year, for the first time ever, we used Stories to do a digital-first budget book, which I’m super excited about. Essentially, what we’re doing is telling our story and putting the information in a format where people recognize and see this is why this is happening, this is how this is being funded. Connecting the dots, and learning about what their government is doing.

One of the most important things we do is audit. OpenGov Financials and its ability to pull the reports that are needed, to provide consistent data, is absolutely what our auditors want to see. Because all of the files are coming out of OpenGov, it’s super simple. I would say, the time savings is hundreds of hours.

Whatever is going on in the background of OpenGov, there seems to be a really good relationship going from sales to implementation to customer service. I don’t feel that there is the same gap as there are in a lot of other technology companies. People within the organization are watching out for you.

Our ultimate goal of providing greater transparency and information more accessible to all of our residents has been achieved.”

Johnson: “The ability to execute our public function of transparency, relative to the public’s money, it takes technology.”
